love, luck, and life...

oh my gosh, did you think the wedding was called off?! bryan and i have been SO busy lately, we've not had the time (nor the energy) to check in with ya'll on the wedblog!!! our apologies! and NO the wedding HAS NOT BEEN called off and YES we ARE GETTING MARRIED in 165 days! WHA-HOO!!! we're so excited and are counting down the days...(at least i am!)...

it's been so long, i don't know where to start... bear with me as i think outloud:

i found my dress over christmas break in louisiana (believe it or not). and it's GORGEOUS! i'm pretty sure i had in on for about two hours in the boutique...refusing to take it off. it was great...the 4th dress i tried on...and the first dress that was nothing like what i had in mind or what i thought i wanted. don't you love when that happens?! we had dropped bryan off at a coffee shop (one of his greatest loves) and my mom, my grandma, katie (see bridesmaids), and i went dress hunting. i was having a dress made but wanted to try and find a similar one so that i could get a sense of what it would look like. and LO AND BEHOLD, i walked out with something completely different! it's gorgeous. it's champagne. and it's...well, it's secret. you'll have to wait and see it at the wedding! whoo hoo!

we also got the men all fancied up with wedding attire as well. and well, i suppose that should be a secret too. but it's very sharp and the guys will look quite handsome...

other than that...the other major thing we've been able to mark off the list is registering!!! and oh what fun it is!!! bryan loved walking through Ikea and Target with the little laser gun and i loved walking around saying, "i want that and that and that and that and that and..." we registered at Ikea (and if you check it out, note the EIGHT aprons...bryan must be under the impression that i'm a cook??? scary!) for furniture and decor type stuff and registered at Target for appliances and home-type stuff. it really was a blast, i'd recommend it! (it might be a new flavor of retail therapy...you will feel like you got all this new stuff and it won't dampen the bank account at all!!! brilliant!!)

oh yeah...and we also wrote our invitations! that was a feat- we wanted to write them ourselves but we were both somehow suffering from a terrible case of writer's block- for like two months. so only a few months behind schedule (because we're...because i'm slightly obsessed with planning...) we finished them!! they are very fun and we think they represent us well. ;0) i would love to tell you what they say but then that might defeat the purpose. nohwahimsayin? so you'll kinda have to wait on that too. :0)

we've also been oh so busy getting our little house ready for it to be our little home (see below). katie and i are currently living in the house that bryan and i will live in when we get married and we've been collecting things here and there to sort of settle into it. katie's been so patient as she comes home to something new almost every other day!!! it's been quite fun for us though...to get a sense of our "style" and to see what our home will "feel" like. it's important to us that it feel welcoming and peaceful. so between Ikea and Target, we hope to make that happen!!!

well, i've been rambling an awful lot (is it passed my bedtime?!) and still have some homework to do...must get going. hopefully bryan and i will get better at keeping you updated at a more timely manner. oh yes! i can't believe i forgot to mention this! bryan got a PROMOTION at work and is now a case manager at the psych hospital he was working at! he's working lots more hours and is still trying to finish up his LAST semester of school before he GRADUATES in may!!!! so, it's quite likely that i will be who you hear from next... either way, we love you, we miss you, and we'll chat soon. or not. but...well, yeah, until next time...

he's the man

We are so excited to introduce our friend, our teacher, and our officiant: Paul D. Steinke!!!

Paul currently serves as Field Abbott and Director of Organizational Development at Mars Hill Graduate School. He’s a husband, a father, and a leader to many. As an institution, Mars Hill is fortunate to have someone like Paul battling and loving on their behalf. As an alumnus and current faculty member, Paul (along with his wife, Sarah and son, Pierce) has suffered and bled for the sake of all that is Mars Hill and all that brings glory and richness to this thing called life. His ability to see beauty, to call it forth, and to invite others to see it as well makes Paul an incredible leader, teacher, and friend. He’s the kind of guy you see and think, “A man like that just doesn’t belong in a world like this…and thank God he’s here.” We’re so excited and grateful that Paul has agreed to walk this journey towards marriage with us. His presence in the ceremony will no doubt bring glory and richness to the day just as it has in our lives and the lives of many others.

Paul, you rock, dude!
